Product Details

PTP (Press-Through-Pack) aluminum foil, commonly known as blister foil, is a critical high-barrier packaging material. It is the primary component in blister packs used extensively for pharmaceuticals (capsules, tablets, pills), healthcare products, and certain high-value food supplements. Its design ensures product safety, integrity, and longevity.

1. Material Structure: A Multi-Layer Laminate

The effectiveness of PTP foil lies in its sophisticated layered structure, which typically consists of:

  • OP (Oriented Polypropylene) Protective Layer: The outer layer, which provides a durable, printable surface and protects the seal from external damage.
  • AL (Aluminum Foil) Core Layer: The central layer that acts as an exceptional barrier against moisture, oxygen, light, and contaminants, ensuring the product’s stability and shelf life.
  • Heat-Seal Coating: The inner layer that bonds securely to the plastic blister cavity (such as PVC or Aclar) during the packaging process, creating a hermetic seal.

2. Key Characteristics & Customization

  • Printability: The OP layer offers an excellent surface for printing. Brands can print high-quality information on one or both sides, which is used for logos, dosage instructions, branding, and anti-counterfeiting marks.
  • Ease of Use: The “press-through” feature allows end-users to push the product effortlessly through the foil without compromising the integrity of the remaining units.
